We will be singing a new song entitled No Longer Slaves. If you are unfamiliar with the song, let me encourage you to click on the link and listen to the song so that you can be ready to sing along.

The refrain of this song celebrates that in Christ, “I am no longer a slave to fear! I am a child of God!” Romans 8:15 says, “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!'” We no longer interact with God as those who should fear judgement. We interact with the holy God of the universe as our loving heavenly Father.

The bridge of the song draws upon imagery from the Exodus where God literally split the Red Sea to bring his children to freedom from slavery. We will sing, “You split the sea so I could walk right through it. My fears were drowned in perfect love.”

I pray this song will be a blessing to us as a church!
