Our History
In 1840, a small group of baptist believers formed an association known as “The Independent Bethel Baptist Church of Washington and Herbertsville.” The name of the church was officially changed in 1938 when the state of New Jersey required associations to register their non-profit status. At that time the church became known as Old Bridge Baptist Church. Although our address is now officially East Brunswick, we are still located in the heart of the historic village of Old Bridge, which was settled in 1634.
For over 175 years, God has been faithful to Old Bridge Baptist Church. He has graciously allowed us to continue ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ to this community and also to partner with missionaries sent around the world. As we look back on our rich history, we celebrate with praise and thanksgiving what God has done in our midst. At the same, time we look with expectation and faith to the future as we seek to reach our community and the next generation for Christ.
