I understand that the title of this article could easily be offensive to anyone reading it. However, please understand that is not my intention as I am a lover of all people and wish the best for all. I write this article because I believe the subject to be of tremendous significance and value.
Although I respect all religions and the freedom of religion in America, I honestly believe Christianity to be the truth (which would make all other beliefs false or misleading). My primary reason I believe this is because I believe the Bible to be the most superior book of all books of antiquity.
The Bible consists of sixty-six books with forty different authors. It was written on three continents (Africa, Asia, and Europe) and in three different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek). Thus, making the Bible very unique as no other book of antiquity can make a statement remotely like that!
Another reason why I believe the Holy Bible to be superior to all other books of antiquity is the number of manuscripts. The New Testament alone has over twenty-four thousand manuscripts. The next closest book of antiquity to the scriptures, in manuscripts, is Homer’s Iliad, which has approximately one thousand seven hundred. Additionally, we have a manuscript from the gospel of John that was copied less than one hundred years after the original! Homer’s Iliad pales in comparison as the closest manuscript to the original writing was copied over one thousand years later!
The Bible mentions many different people, places, and rulers that have been verified by critics and proponents alike. For example, Numbers chapter thirty-three gives the detailed path of the nation of Israel from their exodus in Egypt to Mount Sinai. These details are so precise that two modern explorers used this chapter as a map and traced the steps of Moses and his people all the way to Mount Sinai! (The Search For The Real Mt. Sinai | Full Movie | Robert Cornuke | Larry Williams).
Additionally, the Bible is a book that has many fulfilled prophecies. What other book of antiquity can make such a claim? Many of these prophecies focus on the Lord Jesus Christ. For example, Micah 5:2 prophecies that Christ was going to be born in Bethlehem (Luke 2:4-7), while Psalm 34:20 states that none of His bones, during the crucifixion, would be broken (John 19:32-36).
Some chapters of the Bible, such as Psalm twenty-two, have several fulfilled prophecies concerning Christ. In verse one of this chapter, Christ quotes this verse on the cross (Matthew 27:46). Meanwhile, verses seven through eight predict that onlookers would shake their heads and mock the Lord Jesus (Matthew 27:39-40), while verse sixteen alludes to the death of Christ by crucifixion. Additionally, verse eighteen tells of the soldiers dividing his clothes and garments and casting lots for them (John 19:24).
The book of Isaiah also has several fulfilled prophecies about the Lord Jesus. For example, Isaiah 7:14 speaks of the virgin birth, while Isaiah 53:5-6 points to the substitutionary death of Christ for our sins (Matthew 1:23 & John 19:30). Finally, Isaiah 53:3 & 9 predict that He would be despised and rejected, yet be buried in a rich man’s tomb. (Luke 13:34; Matthew 27:57-60).
These are some of the reasons why I believe the Bible is superior to all other books of antiquity. That being the case, how will you respond to the facts that have been presented? You can reject them, deny them, and even mock them. You can forget about what you read and go about the rest of your life. However, that doesn’t change the truth.
There is a God. Jesus Christ really did die on the cross for our sins. Salvation is through faith alone in Christ alone (John 3:16-18; 14:6; Galatians 2:16), and the Bible is a divine book (2 Timothy 3:16-17). God, the author of the Bible, is reaching out to you. Will you answer? (Revelation 3:20).
